Timeline for Knife Angel Chelmsford visit

  • March 19th 2019

    The Founder of the organisation approached knife Angel Artist Alfie Bradley to discuss a sculpture to address youth violence in Essex.

  • November 2019

    A meeting underpinned by introducing the organisation to members of cabinet and other Chelmsford City Council Councillors and officers .  The meeting included a proposal by the organisation to bring the Knife Angel to Chelmsford. 

  • January 2020

    A successful application to Essex violence and vulnerability for a youth event was made by the organisation, due to the pandemic the funding was diverted to the Knife angel vigil. Due to the embyonic nature of the organisation, the funds were held by partners. 

  • September 14th 2020

    Essex Police and Essex County Council confirmed in prinicple  support with media and marketing for an Angel visit. 

  • March 2021

    A marketing and communications strategy  led by Chelmsford City Council teams and informed by the organisations time consulting with young people began. 

  • 5th May 2021

    The organisations Founder travelled to Northamptonshire to meet Eugene Scardifield to finalise details of his attendance at Knife Angel Vigil. The introduction to Eugene and face to face meeting was facilitated by Ian's Chain Founder Alan Savil, the two men were acquainted through loss of their own loved family members.

  • September 25th 2021

    A vigil took place at the Knife Angel, the event was in collaboaration with Chelmsford Theatres  with operational support from members of the team at Chelmsford CVS. Funded by National Lottery Community Fund, additionally Essex Violence and vulnerability unit   with youth participation co ordinated in partnership with  The Drama Centre and North Avenue Youth Centre. The organisation worked to include multiple representatives from across the County and beyond, guests included representatives from Essex Police  | Herts and Essex Air AmbulanceSAMM National  The Childrens SocietyECVYS |
